A resident of Sunderland, David
was originally from
Long Eaton, Nottingham. David moved to Sunderland in order to study for his career
in pharmacy. He has worked as a Lecturer in Pharmacy at Sunderland Polytechnic and after
retiring continued working as a locum pharmacist throughout Co. Durham.
David's musical career started as Assistant
Organist at Central Methodist Church, Long Eaton, at age 15 years. After leaving Long
Eaton to study, David was organist at a number of churches in Sunderland including
Clockwell Street Methodist Church, St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, Fulwell Methodist
Church and since 1990 is the organist for West Park United Reformed Church.
In 1991, David
took up playing the Euphonium and became a playing member of the
orchestra from its formation.
In addition to
his duties as Chairman, David also took on the role of Secretary from
September 2000, produced the regular Newsletter which was distributed to
all members and others, maintained the Society's records and produced
the 104 page 'History of CoSMOS and the Sunderland Symphony Orchestra -
the first five years.' David also designed and printed the concert programmes from October 2003 to Christmas 2005.
David has been
web site manager for CoSMOS since September 2004.
