Carpeting of orchestra playing area

The Sanctuary area of  the Church has been re-carpeted, and the opportunity has been taken by CoSMOS to provide carpeting for the platform extensions which are used by the orchestra.

The cost of the additional carpeting has been partly met by donations, but if anyone else would like to contribute, please contact the Chairman.

Social Committee
The Executive Committee has agreed that Christopher Brown and Sarah White may form a Social Committee. If you have any ideas or suggestions for improving the social side of CoSMOS please contact either Chris (tel 07720 550225) or Sarah (tel 0191-548 7322).

Recent Performances

Since the last newsletter was produced, members of the Society  have given TWO performances.

Symphony Concert – ‘Last Night of The Proms’ on September 13th

Very well attended – just over 300 in the audience. An excellent atmosphere.

Our soloists were Irada Akhundova (Soprano) and Miles Hanson (Bass-baritone). Irada is from Azerbaijan and has not been in this country for long. Miles is Rupert’s son. Both soloists gave competent and entertaining performances.

An innovation in the concert was a performance by ‘Sound, Rhythm and Soul’- Rupert’s newly formed percussion group. Although different in concept to the usual orchestral music, the contrast was well appreciated.

Rookhope Village Hall (Near Stanhope)
28 of our members went to Rookhope on Sunday 28th September and gave an afternoon performance for the local community. The hall was full and standing. The buffet tea provided had to be seen to be believed! 'Sound, Rhythm & Soul’ participated and Irada was soloist.
