West Park United Reformed
Church is on the corner of Stockton Road and Cowan Terrace, opposite the Park
Lane Transport Interchange (Bus and Metro). The Metro Station is 'Park Lane'.
Concerts were held in the Church, and rehearsals and
meetings were held in the Church Hall.
Entrance to the Church is from
Stockton Road, and to the Church Hall from Cowan Terrace. Both Church and Hall are entered via steps.
Disabled access is from the
side door on Cowan Terrace. A wheelchair hoist (which also has a seat for
ambulatory persons) gives access to the ground floor and toilets. A
chairlift gives access to the hall and
balcony. There are no toilets on the upper floor. Anyone with
impaired mobility is advised to use the side door.
Car Parking is in the multi-storey
Civic Centre car park at the far end of Cowan Terrace, but may also be available in the
streets on the opposite side of Stockton Road (eg. Tunstall Terrace and Alice Street).
Rehearsals
and annual meetings were held in the Church Hall, on
Wednesdays at 7.00 pm, a practice which continues to the present day.
Inside West Park Church
Below is the
orchestra playing area at the front of the main church; for major
concerts, this area was substantially enlarged on three sides by the
addition of portable staging.
