Basic funding was from membership fees, patronage fees, concert fees and from donations. Additional funding has also been gratefully received from the following organisations, for which we give thanks:

During the first year, the Society received sponsorship from Ford North-East Dealers, to fund specified concerts.

The Sunderland City Council has supported the Society from its inception through the ‘Community Chest.’

‘Awards for All’ gave a grant specifically to enable the purchase of two timpani, a computer system, a notice board and to develop a web-site. Awards For All

The Scarman Trust gave a grant to provide for the setting-up costs of the Symphony Orchestra (Autumn 2002).
