A CHINESE teenager has made his debut with
Sunderlands CoSMOS Orchestra.
Violinist Afred Ko, from Hong Kong, is staying in
Sunderland for three years while he studies at the citys university.
He attended a concert by the City of Sunderland Symphony
Orchestra last year and was so inspired that he asked to join.
A member of the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra and a talented
composer as well as instrumentalist, Afred,19, played the first movement of Mozarts
Violin Concerto No 5 with the ensemble at its concert at West Park United Reformed Church,
Sunderland.
The other soloist in the concert was Murton soprano Katrina
Campbell, who sang arias from Figaro and The Magic Flute.
The show had a pictorial theme. Sunderland Art Club
exhibited more than 40 paintings in the church during the concert, while the orchestra -
conducted by musical director Rupert Hanson - played an excerpt from Mussorgskys
Pictures At An Exhibition.
