SINGER Miles Hanson, pictured, will take to the stage with his father at this weekend's concert by Sunderland Symphony Orchestra.

Miles, who is aiming for a career in the pop business, will switch to classical for the occasion, when he sings Last Night of the Proms favourites with the orchestra, conducted by Rupert Hanson.

He says: "I've always wanted to perform with an orchestra, especially on Last Night of the Proms. I'm very patriotic and can't wait to sing Jerusalem. I'll try to bring a middle‑of-the‑road flavour to the performance, rather than an operatic.

"The best bit for me, though, will be performing alongside my Dad."

The concert is in West Park Church at 7.30pm on Saturday. Tickets are £5, £8 and £10. Tel. 534 2413.
