THE SUNDERLAND Symphony Orchestra will be hoping its music reaches out to a wide range of people at its next concert in West Park Church.

The orchestra is presenting Popular Classical Favourites at the church, opposite the Transport Interchange, on Saturday, May 15.

Under the direction of Rupert Hanson, musicians will perform a wide range of classics, from the William Tell Overture to Bizet's L’Arlésienne.

The concert is the first orchestra performance in Sunderland for soloist Teresa Magnowska, a mezzo‑soprano.

                                 CONCERT SOLOIST: Teresa Magnowska.

Teresa, from Morpeth, is studying music at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Mr. Hanson said: "We are trying to reach out to people with our music and hoping that people who do not normally attend concerts come along.

"They're guaranteed a good time."

Tickets are £10, £8 and £5 and can be bought at the door on the night. The concert starts at 7.30pm.
